The Mutisia (Mutisia Decurrens) is a gorgeous, eye-catching plant that is like finding a jewel among the dense forests of Patagonia.

Not often seen, unless looking, this plant offers a shock of color to the green landscape.  It is a perennial climbing plant that produces a brilliant orange flower.  The bloom is in the shape of a twelve petal star, with a diameter of eight to ten centimeters.  The leaves are long, narrow, and dark green.  They end in a hook, assisting them in grabbing onto and climbing the shrubs and trees of the forest.  The seeds of the flowers become feathery with the end of the blooms lifespan.  It blooms December through April.
