Dakar Rally 2009 in Argentina

The world famous Dakar Rally  is coming to Argentina and Patagonia. This world class sporting competition will begin and end in Buenos Aires and cover approximately 6,000 kilometers/3,728 miles. It will go to the Chilean coastal town of Valparaiso before doubling back into Argentina. The route will cross the Andes mountains twice, in two different zones.

The Dakar Rally began in 1977 in Africa, and has a long history. This is the first time the race will take place in South America. The race will begin on January 3, 2009 and finish on the 18th, with a rest day in Valparaiso on the 10th.
