Technical Difficulties

We are currently experiencing internet issues in the whole region. I am borrowing a friend’s dial up connection. We are unsure how long this will last. So, please excuse the delay in postings.

UPDATE 22:00

Just returned from a bike ride and we are back up and running. Technical support’s story was that the fiber optic cable had been cut somewhere and effected a large area, from Esquel to Villa La Angostura.

A few lessons were learned.

One, having dial up as a back up to check emails and basic functions is wise. The monthly fee is somewhere around 15 pesos per month.

Two, going on to Skype to forward the phone to the land line allows us to keeps in touch with the world.

All and all about 28 hours without broadband, not too bad.

How often do you get internet outage? Is the high speed internet connection stable and fast in Patagonia?

    Thanks,

    PC,
I would give broadband about a B+ rating here. When it is working, it is about 800 download/200 upload. Plenty fast for using skype and the web. Occasionally there are little blips, were it doesn’t work for a moment. Not enough to be a big deal, but they exist.
    Adios, Jamie
