¡Feliz Dia de Trabajador!
May 1st, 2009 Posted in cultureWritten by Jamie
Throughout Latin America, May 1 is the Day of the Worker.
Today we had a check in/check out for one of our rental properties. We had scheduled our housecleaner for 11am.
Betty came over this morning to say it was El Dia de Trabajador and she would like to spend time with her family.
Betty, our housecleaner
Despite being put in a bit of a bind — and it would of been great to know that last week when we gave her the schedule — we told her we think that is great idea.
We believe it is a wonderful thing when a person who doesn’t have much money decides to spend time with her family instead of making an extra dollar. I would say Betty has her priorities straight.

Hi! Our housekeeper’s name is Betty too. Just a tip; There are 12 paid holidays in Argentina. Not sure what your agreement with her is, but as the employer you want to be aware of these days as they are well respected days off (or double-paid if worked).
ps: great fall photos!
