Sending Much Love and Positivity to the Lakes District

June 8th, 2011 Posted in culture | 5 Comments »

We would like to send much love and positive thought to all of those negatively effected by the volcanic eruption of Volcano Puyehue.

The Lakes District is a majestic paradise that will always have a special place in our hearts, not just the land, but the people as well. We love you Bariloche. We are sorry that you are going through this natural disaster. Know that there are many of us around the world that are here to support you during these challenging times.

I put together a little video to celebrate earth day using my pictures from our life in Patagonia.

Thank you Mother Earth for creating such a spectacular area as the Lakes District of Patagonia. With adoration and gratitude, we feel blessed that this amazing part of the planet is a part of our heart.

Bariloche Gathering Showing Support for Japan

March 19th, 2011 Posted in culture | 3 Comments »

In loving support to all those suffering in Japan, we would like to pass on the message that there is a nation and city-wide meditation being held in Argentina and Bariloche on Sunday, March 20th. The Bariloche location is at La Placita (Limay 545, Melipal) starting at 1:30 p.m.

EN ARGENTINA Y EN BARILOCHE:

MEDITACION MASIVA

haremos sonar

tambores, cuencos, didjeridoos…

vibrando con los 8.000 tambores del mundo,

que ese día sonarán al unísono!

Sumate en presencia y en participación!

En inmenso amor, nos abrazamos!

“Gracias por su difusión!”

Local Artist Showcased by the Bariloche Association of Artisans

February 12th, 2011 Posted in cosas lindas | 1 Comment »

I just found out from our wonderful Bariloche massage therapist, Cristina Skomorowski (telephone (02944 458 3533 or cell 15 206 067 for those in need of a fabulous, cheap rub down), that the Bariloche Association of Artisans (La Asociación de Artesanos de Bariloche) is showcasing the brilliant and mind-provoking art of local Maria Susana Giglio. A Bariloche resident since 1983, she finds inspiration and peace in the creation of art.

The art exposé is from the 10th of February till the 10th of March. Located on Elflein 38, on the first floor, the Association is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm.

Bariloche Named by BBC as Top Ski Town

It’s no joke when we say that Bariloche is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Combine that with being home to South America’s famed ski resort, Catedral, and having a lively community full of fun things to do, and it is not a huge surprise that Bariloche was named one of the world’s best mountain communities by the BBC in an article published two days ago.

But it is exciting nonetheless!

And as a person that has had the pleasure of living in this wonderful place — a paradise that is often under-the-radar – it’s great seeing it get the kudos that it deserves.

Yesterday, we posted about the drastically reduced price of our property, Patagonia View Investment Property.

Today, Curbed Online Magazine published this article, A Non-Exhaustive Roundup of the Best Views Money Can Buy.

The article contrasts the view and price of our property to 5 separate multi-million dollar properties in the United States.

Thank you to Rob at www.Curbed.com for helping us show what a great deal the property is.

Our Bariloche Garden in Full Bloom

Springtime was most definitely one of our favorite times of year while living in Bariloche. I have never witnessed such an immense amount of flowers blooming at the same time as is the case in the Lakes District. The rainbow of colors and floral scent to the air is a special part to the natural paradise that is within the Parque.

Loving the floral abundance of the area, I integrated native and international species into the tiered gardens that I built on our property. We just received some pictures from our Casa Principal tenants showing the garden in its third year of growth and I am very excited to share the results. It is definitely taking on a beautiful form.

Thank you Lisa and Brad for sharing the splendor…

Pictures of the Week

I am incredibly sad to say that our time of living in Patagonia full time has truly come to a close. We have packed up our faithful Toyota truck — otherwise known as Silver Bullet — with all of our belongings, and the family…Dale the Krazy Kitty, Suerte the German Shepard Hero, and Dulce the Canine Princess. The end of this chapter has come and now this junk show is making its way to the opposite side of the world.

The last week of being in Bariloche has been filled with moments that will never be forgotten…in addition to saying goodbye to dear friends, the forest and trails that we love so much have offered us a farewell as well…here are some pictures from our last hike on the Gnar trail…a spectacular day with a salute from the condors, themselves.

As you may or may not know, we took a ski sabbatical in Las Leñas before returning to the US.

It was a great time and our batteries are now refreshed and ready for action.

Here are some pictures from the season.
