Friday Andean Fashion

The level of tourists, or as we used to call them in Lake Tahoe, gapers is over the top here in Bariloche. The one thing that I can’t get enough of is the outfits. I am in constant amazement at some of the fashion I see, especially at the ski resort. What some of my friends back home would give for some of these precious gaper outfits often crosses my mind.

Let’s begin with the lady in dark burgundy. She obviously just got done taking care of business on the black diamond slopes. Note the tight belt to really accentuate her skier muscles. But what I like most is that the outfit reminds me of those little plastic bubbles used for shipping items. I felt myself wanting to go and start trying to pop one.

Next up is the stud in yellow. He had it going on, for sure. Love the yellow matching turtleneck, after all it was a deep powder day. Judging from the look on his face, I wasn’t the only stranger to take a picture of him. He yelled something in a strange-to-me language, and I gave him the thumbs up.

What I like most about this shredder is his face protection. If you look closely, you can see his lift ticket attach to the top of his zipper. It only makes perfect sense to wear a face mask when you get up to speed and have the ticket start flapping around, hitting your face.

We’ll try to keep you posted from time to time on all of the latest fashion, both on and off the slopes.

Have a great weekend!

so since you’ve left tahoe, onesies, as they are now known, are back in phashun. it’s true. the second guy probably bought his new within the year, and it’s most likely Burton, or something close. full circle, baby. full circle. mom told you now to throw that one piece away.

    Keep them coming.

I have to side with Steve, with the exception of Face Protection Guy…the onesies are back. The first two people quite possibly purchased from Squaw Valley Sportshop, or a similar store in Whistler or another free-riding hub. The third guy with the zipper ticket, that is taking one for the team so we can all have a smile on our face! That is gorgeous.

One pieces are back? I knew when I was leaving the States things were on there way downhill, but I had no idea it was this bad. Thanks for keeping me up to speed in the Sierras, I miss everyone more than words can say! Suerte, Jamie

Hot stuff! It reminds of one Tahoite who had aspirations of writing a short about how far away you should steer clear of a gaper, for your own safety on the slopes, based upon the hat they wore. Now I can see how onsies could also give a clear indication of a safe distance to keep. He estadp pensando en ustedes en estos dias! Que bueno ver tu correo! Un abrazo fuerte!

Todd, nice to hear from you. In hindsight, we should have be rocking one pieces in Alaska back in the 90’s! Adios, Jamie

    Jamie,
That is great. Gaper fashion never gets old. I still have an olde 80’s fag bag that Bob Steinberg gave me–might have to sport that this winter and relive my east coast glory days. Looks like you and Shanie are doing great-tell her hi. BTW, I keep calling yer 530# and it just rings and rings, yet you can call me. Anyway, rock on, I’ll talk to you soon.
