Ski Update

The upper elevations are slowly becoming fat with snow. The lower elevations have enough to get back to the lifts. And the masses of Brazilians and Porteños are lessening. Things are looking up around Catedral.

The storms are coming in and out, each leaving a breath of fresh snow. The last layer was cold and well bonded to its neighbor below it. Enough to withstand a little gravity.

It’s nice to have the passes working again and to be playing among the Lengas.

Catedral may not be the steepest ski area in the world but its views and natural environment is pretty spectacular.

Hey — we found La Hoya to be a very nice little resort with good infrastructure and tons of hike to skiing. There was plenty of snow at the base of the area … but hard to say just how much since it was obviously blown and drifted around a lot. I´d say 40 cm. Above the midstation there wad quite a bit more … perhaps 200cm with some massive drifts. Winds had scoured one area of the lower trail nearly clean of snow. Heavy winds gradually shut the resort down lift by lift the day we were there and though they said our tickets were good for free skiing the next day morning winds in town suggested a similar day. Went on to Caviahue which was quite nice.

Nice post. One thing, i’m running Win 7 with the Firefox 4 Beta browser and your columns are overlapping a little. Though you may want to fix it :-)

I really enjoyed reading this article. I’m actually committing Sin #2 ‘Waiting too long to comment’! However, I felt compelled to express appreciation, since I think many of these you enumerate are unconscious mistakes that can easily be rectified.
