Cerro Campanario, After Hours

After a nice day of working around the house, we decided to take the kids on a quick walk for sunset.

Cerro Campanario is a small peak close to our house. At 1,050 meters above sea level, it isn’t very high compared to the other peaks in the region which rise to over 2,000 meters. Though short on elevation, it offers a very unique view of this part of Patagonia.

During the day, the chairlift whisks bus loads of tourists to the summit where there is an observation deck and restaurant. Thankfully for us, the last lift up is at 6pm. There is a very steep 20 minute trail that takes you to the summit and viewing platform. The 360 degree view is among the best anywhere in Patagonia and dare I say the world.

I snapped a picture looking to the west with Laguna Trebol, Lago Moreno, and in the distance Lago Nahuel Huapi.
