Catedral Opening, Take 2

As best we can tell, Cerro Catedral is going to open tomorrow, Tuesday, June 24 for the season. We had a nice drive on Saturday and I took this picture from across Lago Guiterrez. There appears to be a fair amount of snow up high. The forecast is calling for more snow later in the week. Stay tuned for updates on ski conditions through out the season.

8:00pm update

A friend who speaks and reads much better than I has pointed out that Catedral’s website says they will decide on Tuesday what day the resort will open. And here I was, the dumb gringo, thinking it said it was opening on a certain day. So, there you have it, an announced date to announce when they are going to open. Only in Argentina!

    Hi Jamie,

Thanks for the updates. I sure hope we will be able to ski on July 6th… I don’t know if you know this , but Lan airlines is cutting back on their flights (so they told me via phone after I got an email that TOTALLY changed my date of return to Buenos Aires.) We were to leave at 1am on the 13th and yesterday they put us on a flight that leaves on the 14th at 9am… then today I got another notice that they have changed it til 11:30am on the 14th. I leave for the states on the 16th, so they better cut this out. They said it was because of the ash…
ALSO…. Can you think of any skiing accessory we can give to our “argentine family” that they don’t have there? I am groping for gifts…Also, since we are now having to stay an extra night AFTER our family has left the chalet they’ve rented for all of us for the week we will be needing a place to stay….Do you know of any little B&B in town (close to the airport?)_) where my daughter and I can stay ? WE like Safe, Clean, reasonable, close to “the heart” of it all…. No frills necessary…..

Nice post. One thing, i’m running Win 7 with the Firefox 4 Beta browser and your columns are overlapping a little. Though you may want to fix it :-)
