Telenovela Update

Telenovela means soap opera in Spanish and since the current strike is starting to resemble a bad soap opera, I figured this would be an appropriate title.
Yesterday, Wednesday, everything that was scheduled (National Day of Protest, Pro Government Rally, World Cup Soccer qualifier) went according to plan.
Protest day, at least in these parts, didn’t seem to much different than any other day. I had to call Telefonica customer service for a small issue and they weren’t available. They were most likely taking the day off.
The Pro Government rally in Plaza de Mayo was attended by around 100,000 enthusiastic Argentines. Before the rally began the top part of a lamp post fell while protesters were stinging up a banner. The piece landed on a man and killed him. Wrong place at the wrong time. In respect for him there was a moment of silence before Cristina began speaking.
But most importantly, Argentina and Brazil tied 0-0 in the big soccer match.
There you have it, up to the minute.
Like sands through the hour glass, so are the days of our lives…

Love the Telenovela ‘Days of Our Lives’ pun!
