Possible New Boat Service

According to ANBariloche.com, there is talk of a new boat service between downtown Bariloche (Puerto San Carlos) and Villa La Angostura. Though it is still in the idea stages, the plan would be to have 4 to 5 boats per week crossing the mighty Lake Nahuel Huapi. Currently, there is a boat that leaves from Puerto PaƱuelo (25km west of the city center) to Parque Arrayanes and the QuetrihuƩ Peninsula. There are also occasional boats from the tip of the peninsula to Villa La Angostura.

This connection of the two tourist areas would be great. People without cars could go across the lake for the day. Between the skiing at Cerro Bayo and one of the best mountain bike rides anywhere on the peninsula, it would be perfect for Bariloche visitors. For Villa La Angostura tourists, they could jump on the boat and pop over to Bariloche for many of its attractions as well.

All in all, I think it sounds like a great idea and I hope they do it.
