On Second Thought

In true Argentine fashion, Cerro Catedral announced this morning, that it is postponing their opening date for lack of snow. The irony of this decision is that when they first advertised their opening date of June 12, there wasn’t too much snow. Since then, it has snowed quite a bit up high, and even down to the lower elevations.

I just checked their website and it now says that the ski resort will be open on June 17, with two chairs, for pedestrians only. Oddly enough, the website also says that today the same two lifts are running for non-skiers as well.

So, the short of it is they are not opening as previoulsy thought, but you can take a ride on the chair lifts if you want to walk around on the freshly fallen snow.

So instead of skiing like we were hoping to, it looks like we will be going for a hike. Stay tuned for a picture from the hike (versus the ski shot we were hoping for). You gotta be flexible in these parts!

Updated picture from this afternoon. Looks like the upper half of the mountain is in good shape.

Could be worth calling as keeping websites up to date is not an Argentinian specialty! Enjoy the hike!
