Rumors Flying About Catedral

There seems to be some rumors flying around about the opening of Bariloche’s ski area, Cerro Catedral

A fellow blogger wrote an entry that the mountain wasn’t to open until the 29th of June.  We also heard that people in Mendoza were passing on the tall tale that the ski area was not going to open at all this season due to the ash flying from Volcano Chaiten.

Neither are true.

Catedral is still saying Thursday, the 12th of June.  And from the skies clearing today, showing a good amount of new snow, I would say they are right on track.

WEll, Shanie and Jamie…. I feel like we’re old friends! I have just spent the last hour reading/skimming through your life from this blog! What interesting people you are and I have thoroughly enjoyed readlng about your living experiences in Argentina. When I have more time, I am going to finish “the book”
I am “beadhappy” from the Tripadvisor forum.
My 25 year old daughter is living in a little town (Vicuna Mackenna) in Cordoba region with a family on a campo. She is teaching English there and just soaking up the culture (and the language) She only had a few years of Spanish in high school and rather than taking a Berlitz course to REALLY learn the language, and being the adventurist she is, she chose this alternative course! In a few weeks, she and her family and another family from Vicuna are renting a house at Catedral. (I’m coming back down there for this occassion) My daughter (when in the states) lives in Breckenridge and will no doubt be teaching the “fams” to ski the week we are there. It will be an interesting trip…Anyway, I am going to suggest to Kasey to read your blog. I only wish I had known about it earlier….I love the Phrases and wrote a few down to memorize!!
I also would be interested in knowing more about that accupuncturist you referred to in one of your entries. That might be something I can do on a day I’m not skiing…..Or even a massage….Take care and keep up that great writing….
