A Trip to the Super Market, 3 year’s later.

As mentioned before, we are currently vacationing in our old beloved home of Lake Tahoe. It is certainly great to be back after almost 3 years away. I thought it might be fun to post about today’s trip to Albertson’s.
Obviously the large selection of goods is a big eye opener. I had forgotten about some of my favorites (croutons, good thai spices, chili, designer spaghetti sauces, pop tarts).
The full aisle of ready-to-be-made-frozen-food was a reminder of how things in the States come easier and are more efficient. That goes for the conveyor belt in the checkout stand and the bag holder to put the groceries in after scanning. In Bariloche, it takes multiple steps to ring up and bag the goods.
We stocked up on some supplies. Hopefully the customs agents in Argentina don’t look in the the luggage and/or like spicy food.
The check out procedure of using a debit card and getting cash back was very convenient. These are things that I used to take for granted and now have a new found appreciation.

Yah, the trick is to not open any of them until we get back to Patagonia!

Jamie…why not start a thread where those who wished could write in describing what would be their own photograph of goodies. For example, I would have umpteen bottles of different types of peanut butter and Aunt Jemima pancake mixtures.

Pete, that’s a good idea. Maybe some other defecters will chime in?

Albertson’s? It didn’t change back to Lucky’s in Tahoe yet?

I was too busy looking at the food, I didn’t notice all what the name of the store in TC was anymore.

Having lived overseas for 7+ years, my greatest pleasure is coming back to the US. It’s like a rebirth. I used to stock up on candy.
This is a weird question, but the hybrid, hothouse tomatoes (and other veggies) in the US have lost their taste … do tomatoes still taste like tomatoes in Argentina?

Raymon, the tomatoes in Argentina appear to taste just right.
