A Fine Day for a Hike

Shanie and I had been eyeing a particular hike near our house for some time. It is barely mentioned on any trail map and we only talked to one person that has ever done it. It rises 4,000 vertical feet right out of the lake and the views are nothing short of amazing.

Our two younger dogs have been training for some time so we thought this would be their initiation. They have been studying under dogmaster Bergen and this was their big Andes challenge.

The trail required some serious route finding and one section where a rope was needed. I am pretty sure that no other dogs have ever been on this trail.

After 4 hours, 20 minutes we arrive at the summit. But since we descended another way, this was only half way through our day. Here is a nice 360 panoramic from the top of Punta Norte.

After the 9 hour journey, we both decided this must be one of the great hiking trails in the world, but certainly not for the faint of heart.
