New Luxury Hotel

I caught news of a big purchase here in Bariloche over the weekend. Alan Faena, of Faena Hotel and Universe, has just purchased 45 hectares/111 acres of prime real estate on the north shore of Lago Moreno Oeste to build a new luxury hotel. The deal was worth close to US$16,000,000. The property currently has an old abandoned hotel called the OSPLAD Hotel Moreno. Apparently the hotel was for the public and schools to use, but had closed down 4 years ago.

There appears to be some public discontent as this public space will now be private. The access to the property is currently at KM 19.2, just before the Peninsula San Pedro turnoff.

I will be anxious to see how this all plays out. If you ever get the chance to go to the Faena in Buenos Aires, it is quite a sight. If that is any sign of what’s to come in our neighborhood, it should make for a very interesting property. Vamos a ver.
