Phrase of the Week
August 19th, 2009 Posted in phrase of the weekaño verde:green year.
This would be used to explain something that only happens once in a great while, a rare occurrence.
Similar to the English version of “once in a blue moon”.

When something good happens in Argentina, we say “Argentina, año verde” because good things rarely happen!!
Another beautiful expression with the word “año” is “en/del año del ñaupa”. It means something very old: “Es del año del ñaupa” o “lo hicieron en el año del ñaupa”. ñaupa means “antiguo” in quechua.
Thanks again for the phrases of the week.
