Views of the Recent Time Change
January 31st, 2008 Posted in day to day, lifestyleWritten by Jamie
Since the last minute announcement and controversial time change last month, I figured I would share my observations.
The most obvious is that sunsets have been well after 10:00pm. And since we both like to hike the trails when no one else is on them, we find ourselves getting out to exercise quite late. This also leads to a dinner around midnight most nights. And this translates into going to bed late and sleeping in each morning. Since we are 6 hours ahead of the west coast, where our families and friends are, we are still ahead of them.
We have heard others complaining about the difficulty of getting to sleep until the wee hours but still need to wake early. There was an article in The Economist this week about this.
I feel fortunate to work at home on my own schedule, so there is little impact of the time change. For others, they appear to not be so lucky.

I’ve been reading this BLOG for a couple of months. So fascinating that I’m trying to convince myself NOT to visit/live next year based solely on a few people’s BLOGs … but it’s hard. You guys do a wonderful job. Thanks.

Thanks for the kind words Raymon. Don’t fight the temptation, come on down, you won’t regret it. Jamie
