NEWSFLASH: Daylight Savings To Begin Tonight

December 29th, 2007 Posted in culture, day to day

In true Argentine fashion, the government just announced there will be daylight savings time from December 30th until March 16th, 2008. This means, clocks will move ahead as of midnight tonight, 1 hour, to GMT-2. For us in Patagonia, it means it will be light until almost 11pm.

The reason for this is to supposedly help conserve energy. I can’t say I totally understand this rationale, but it wouldn’t be the first time this has been the case.

I came across this techie blog that explains how to adjust your computer for the new time change.

Since this was just announced on December 21, I imagine there will be some people caught off guard. So, if you know anyone in Argentina, please spread the word since Cristina and her people have not.
