Back in Tahoe I owned a house cleaning company. It was a great, profitable business that provided me with lots of time to ski, good business education and a fun crew of employees to work with. But there was one thing that I hated about it — and that was having to wash and iron sheets. Often times, the washing machines provided by owners were the closet-size, stackable combo that would only take one set of sheets at a time (with four beds to clean) and would leave them wrinkled. I probably don’t need to explain why the disdain for boring ironing.

I didn’t use laundry services in Tahoe because a business that would take dirty sheets and towels and turn them into nicely pressed versions of themselves in a day or two didn’t exist in Lake Tahoe. Or if it did, it would cost an arm and a leg.

So, I just want to say, as a member of the property management world here in Bariloche, and having to once again deal with people’s dirty sheets, I so appreciate, am thankful for and respect the Lavanderias. Not to mention their very reasonable pricing structure.

Their ability to take soiled, trampled swaths of fabric and turn them into perfectly folded, nice smelling, wrinkle-free sheets, makes my day.

So thank you to the ladies at the Lavaderia at kilometer 13, Laverap.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I think it’s about time to drop off a few cervezas artesanales para las mujeres.
