The Argentine Government has just signed into law a new coastal park designed to protect marine wildlife. According to the Science Daily, the new park is located on the Atlantic coast, at the Golfo San Jorge, in the province of Chubut.

The protected area will cover 250 square miles, inlcuding almost 100 miles of shoreline and is designed to protect a half million penguins in addition to other rare species of birds.

The Wildlife Conservation Society is responsible for getting this park designated.

As animal lovers, we are pleased to hear these rare species will be protected in Eastern Patagonia.

Awesome news. When I was little (’70’s) we visited Punta Tombo and saw many of the penguins, who looked just like the little guy in the picture…
