ADT Alarm Company Pac Bell Award Winner Update

I wanted to give an update on our x-alarm company…the winner of last year’s Pac Bell Award.

As you may remember, the Pac Bell is awarded to only the least efficient, least service-oriented companies of the world.  The problems with ADT (or ADD as we lovingly refer to them as) began on our fifth wedding anniversary.  Our siren wouldn’t turn off.  Their remedy:  taping a pillow to the wall.

Well, we are now six months past the yelling sirens, phone tag and eventual firing of ADT.  But the saga continues…

We were sitting in our living room, enjoying the company of a good Argentinian friend.  The phone rang.  I could tell by the look on Jamie’s face that they were back.  ADT just didn’t want to believe that we really had fired them.  Their records showed that we were still a client.  When were we going to pay our bill?

Jamie, using logic, thought that our Argentine friend could help us out with the never-ending problem.  Being a native speaker, we thought that she would be able to understand something that we were obviously missing.

I must give Veronica credit.  She put her best foot forward and tried her best.  She used kindness, tenacity, pushiness.   She even was able to get the supervisor on the phone.  They hung up on her three times.  She jumped through all of the hoops they sent her way.

Even the burning ones. 

They continually tried to talk in circles, as they did with us.  But she wore them down.  Her insistence and persistence stopped their spinning of words.  Finally.

She won the battle.  They admitted defeat.  They said they would not call again.

And it seems she did indeed achieve victory.  We haven’t heard from them again and it has been over a month.  It seems that this chapter has ended.

But our current alarm company showed up the other day, out of the blue.  No phone call.  No appointment.  They needed to change something.  The mumble was insufficient to understand exactly what.   

I hope our new company doesn’t have thoughts of competing for the upcoming Pac Bell Award.
